What is this mobile slot about?
Playtech sucker punch any fans of the movie with this very mediocre Dirty Dancing slot machine.Quick, name the most memorable bit about the Dirty Dancing movie? Did you say “No one puts baby in the corner”? Ok, how about the other bit?
Yes, the music. The wonderful, wonderful music with a classic cheesy wonderful coming of age through dance (and sex) tale.
And yet, not one of the original songs show up in this Playtech Dirty Dancing slot – what happened?
Sabotages the theme and the game play
In case it wasn’t already a little bit obvious, we’re fans of the original movie. What? One half of us was a 14-year-old girl once.
So here we are, with 5×4 reels and 40 paylines full of generic 1950s symbols and characters that barely look like the actors.
Baby actually looks like a smug princess you want to punch in the face, Penny has clearly been replaced by Phoebe from Friends, and Patrick Swayze is currently rolling in his grave.
All set on a glittery pink background because that’s what girls like? We guess? This is almost as insulting as Dr Lovemore by Playtech.
This Dirty Dancing game isn’t even a good slot
We are going to admit something pretty bad: generally speaking, we’ve played on some god ugly slots because we knew that, deep down, they hid big wins.
The Books of Ra Deluxe game isn’t the prettiest, but it’s got a great personality and puts out for our wallet.
The same can’t be said for this Dirty Dancing video slot which sees very few decent wins or hopes for them either.
Yes it’s a jackpot slot, but then so are literally hundreds of the many Playtech slot machines out there.
The two Dirty Dancing bonus games don’t help
One is the free spins where you can get up to 30 with a 2x multiplier.
Getting that multiplier is hard work – and even when we did, and caught the multiplier, we still only just managed to get 18 times our bet.
As for the click me game, it’s for show at best, making you think you might win the jackpot, but generally keeping you in the corner where you belong.
This Dirty Dancing slot is disappointing. It’s like they released it, hoping nostalgia was enough. Well, it isn’t Playtech. Go back, revisit what made your Superman slot great, and try again please.

Wilds: Patrick Swayze (the guy in case you were born after 2000) is the wild symbol and he can substitute for all other symbols over the 40 paylines to create a win. He does not replace the scatter symbol.
Whirling Wilds: Watch as Johny and Baby dance across the screen and spin wild onto the reels. You usually get around 4 to 6 extra wilds on screen, and probably the only way to get anything over 5x your bet in the base game.
This feature triggers randomly during any spin.
Dirty Dancing Jackpot Game: Open boxed to reveal either Baby or Johnny symbols. Match 3 to win one of the two jackpots.

Dirty Dancing Bonus: Theres 5 cash levels, and in each level you click boxes to reveal cash prizes or collect. The last level, if you get there, brings you to the jackpot picking game.
Simple and not much more to it than that - you get maybe around 10x your bet.
Mambo Free Games: Get 3 scatters anywhere on screen and you'll trigger a free spin mini game.
Here you spin a wheel to collect free spins, a random 2x multiplier, or a dancing wild.
Mostly you end up with around 20 free spins and no multiplier or dancing wild. The fact that you have to fight for a multiplier you get as standard in games like Prosperity Palace slot left a sour taste in our mouth.
And even when we did get the dancing wild, which is one wild reel floating from one side to the other, the wins where not much more impressive.
Closing thoughts
As fans of the movie we really, really, wanted to like this Dirty Dancing slot on mobile.
So imagine our double disappointment when it not only ruined the memory of the game, but with bad graphics and sounds, barely made it remember the movie at all.
And if it didn't get us with nostalgia, it certainly not getting us with the little wins you get over 40 paylines and bonus games that are time wasters... at best.
We are going to ignore this effort, play on the Halloween slot, and hope that they lose the license to someone else in the future.

Based on the 1987 movie musical, it comes with plenty of extras including whirling wilds, free spins with added wilds and doubling multipliers and a pick me round that can lead to a progressive jackpot. The movie may have been released in the late 80ss but it’s set in the early 1960s – that’s evident in the design of the game which features A to 10 playing cards, radios, jukebox vinyl, high heel shoes and a classic open top car. They’re joined by Penny (Cynthia Rhodes) and Baby (Jennifer Grey). Land 5 of the latter for a 500-coin boost.
Johnny aka Patrick Swayze is the game’s wild – he substitutes for all other symbols apart from the scatter and awards payouts of between 15 and 5,000 coins if you land between 2 and 5 on a single payline. Look out too for the Dirty Dancing logo which is the scatter – the cashier will ring to the tune of 5, 25 or 125 times your total stake if you manage to land 3, 4 or 5 of them anywhere on the reels on the same spin.
There are 3 bonus features on offer in Dirty Dancing, all of which are triggered at random:
- Whirling Wilds feature – animated versions of Johnny and Baby show their moves and dance across the reels. In the process, they’ll turn up to 6 symbols wild. A payout is then made with the new wilds in position.
- Mambo Free Games feature – before the free spins begin, spin the wheel. This will confirm the number of free spins you’ve been awarded as well as offering a selection of modifier extras which include a 2x multiplier. Also, helping your winning chances are Dancing Wilds which can bop across the reels and turn whole reels wild. After the wheel lands on the collect, your free spins will begin.
- Dirty Dancing Bonus feature – this is a variation on the pick ’em round. You’ll be presented with a choice of 9 boxes. If you manage to pick 3 of the special object related to that round, (e.g. a vinyl record, radio, shoes…) then you’ll progress to the next level.

The glittery visuals are nicely realised and the soundtrack has a suitably retro flavour. The range of features is pretty impressive too. They hit at regular intervals so you should get plenty of bang for your buck. There are still chances to land a big score too with the overall variance in the medium range.
The version of Dirty Dancing won’t disappoint fans of the original movie. Even if you have 2 left feet, this video slot should be able to get you moving. If you like games based on famous films, Bally’s Titanic and Microgaming’s Jurassic Park are recommended.
