Official dates have been announced for the 50th Annual World Series of Poker tournament festival. The WSOP is set to return to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in 2019, despite recent speculation that poker’s biggest tournament series could soon be moving to the strip. The Series is set to run from May 28 – July 16 this year, and although the full schedule is still being finalized, the save-the-date announcement released by the WSOP on Thursday, Dec. 20 did include information of seven key events throughout the series that have been officially finalized.

The most noteworthy detail included in the release is a brand new event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the WSOP. The tournament, called the ‘Big 50’, is a $500 buy-in event with a $5,000,000 guaranteed prize pool and a $1 million guaranteed first-place prize. The event will run from May 30 – Jun. 2 and will be rake-free for each player’s initial entry, with all $500 going into the prize pool. All re-entries, including playing in another flight, will be pay standard rake. The tournament features four starting flights, Thursday, May 30 through Sunday, June 2. Players will start the event with 50,000 in chips, with 12 50-minute levels planned for the day 1 starting flights.
“We’re excited to commence our golden event,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. “We expect our opening weekend Big 50 event to be one of the largest in our history, and certainly one of the best value tournaments ever offered. This is part of our concerted plans to make the 2019 WSOP a better value all-around.”
Other finalized events included in the press release include the $1,500 “Millionaire Maker” event, the Seniors no-limit hold’em championship, the Monster Stack no-limit hold’em event, the Crazy Eights no-limit hold’em event and the $10,000 WSOP main event, which will feature three starting flights this year running Jul. 3-5.
